JI bags chairman, vice chairman slots in nine towns

Emerge victorious unopposed in six towns

KARACHI:

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) candidates for chairman and vice-chairman of town municipal committees (TMCs) have won with a huge majority in nine towns of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, including JI candidates elected unopposed in six towns.

In Landhi Town, Abdul Jameel Khan was elected chairman, and Muhammad Imran vice chairman. In Model Colony Town, Zafar Ahmad Khan was elected chairman and Faisal Basit vice chairman, councilors of Gulshan Iqbal Town elected Dr Fawad Ahmed chairman and Muhammad Ibrahim Siddiqui vice chairman.

Similarly, Rizwan Abdul Sami and Hamid Nawaz Khan were elected chairman and vice chairman respectively of Gulshan Town and Atif Ali Khan and Syed Ziauddin Ahmed as chairman and vice chairman of North Nazimabad Town, while Syed Muhammad Muzaffar and Nauman Siddiqui bagged the chairman and vice chairman seats of the Nazimabad Town.

In Gulberg Town, the councilors chose Nusratullah and Muhammad Ilyas as chairman and vice chairman and in Liaquatabad Town, Faraz Haseeb and Mirza Muhammad Ishaq Timuri as chairman and vice chairman, while in New Karachi Town Muhammad Yusuf and Shoaib Bin Zaheer were elected chairman and vice chairman.
