10 held for violating marriage laws

Police conduct raid at wedding function, recover sound systems, weapons and ammunition

Police on Saturday arrested ten accused for violating marriage laws in the limits of Taxila Police Station.

Police also recovered sound systems, weapons and ammunition from their possessions. According to a police spokesman, police conducted a raid at a wedding function and held ten persons including two dancers for violation of the sound system act and using firearms.

The accused were identified as Muhammad Ali, Sunni, Rehman, Tasawar, Babar, Muneeb, Nadeem, and Ihtisham whereas the dancers were identified as Rehana and Maqbool.

On the other hand, a drugs supplier, while supplying ice to his potential consumers was nabbed red-handed during an ongoing swoop against the drugs suppliers in Taxila and Wah Cantonment.

According to a police spokesman, a team of Taxila Police led by Station House Officer Sarmad Ilyas intercepted a drugs supplier identified as Luqman Shah and recovered 800 grams of ice from his possession. Police registered a case against the accused under Section 9B of the Control of Narcotics Substances Act 1997.
