MULTAN: Addressing a ceremony in Multan on Sunday, Jamatud Dawa foreign affairs wing president Prof Abdur Rehman Makki opposed the formation of new provinces in Pakistan. He said that no new provinces should be made in the country and the suggestion to split the provinces was a western conspiracy aimed at weakening the country. “There should be no new provinces. Not on a linguistic or administrative basis. All this will do is lead to separatist movements in Pakistan and all movements supporting new provinces have been sponsored by indo-US nexus to bifurcate and weaken Pakistan,” he said. Makki said that the idea for new provinces was already promoting regionalism and provincialism contradictory to national integrity.
