Three women held over murder
Police have arrested three women suspected of murdering an elderly servant over resisting a robbery after luring him to enter the house of a lawyer.
Investigation Officer (IO) Nadeem Shah shared with The Express Tribune that arrested suspects Ambreen and Kaweeta worked as maids in a house near the home of Munir Hussain Bhatti where the victim was employed.
He said the suspects worked at the house of Bisma who had a poor background but had been married in a well off family, and the three had developed a friendship.
The official said Ambreen and Kaweeta had shared the phone number of the deceased with Bisma who had started talking to him.
On the day of the incident, the deceased had called Bisma and shut down the CCTV cameras at his home.
Shah said drugs and an aphrodisiac had been found in the room of the victim.
Investigations had indicated that the suspects had tried to intoxicate the victim and then tied his legs before strangling him.
The police official said that the suspects had taken tools with them to commit the robbery.
The police received a call about the murder during robbery and launched investigations, during which they found a tip about the suspects while analysing the CCTV and call record.
They raided the rented home of one of the suspects and recovered stolen valuables, including gold jewellery, foreign currency and a Kalashnikov.
The police official claimed that the suspects had confessed to the crime.
