LAHORE:

A delegation of the Balochistan Youth Association on Friday visited the Jinnah House, the residence of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which was destroyed during the May 9 riots.

The delegation said in a statement that they were paying a visit to the site on behalf of the entire Balochistan province.

“[We] have come to Jinnah House to express solidarity with our Pakistani brothers and the Pakistan Army. We strongly condemn all the events of May 9,” the statement added.

It further stated that “Those who vandalised and misbehaved on May 9 should receive the same punishments as terrorists because conspiracy and sabotage to weaken military institutions is anti-patriotism and sedition.”

"Those who vandalised the memorials of martyrs and tried to show the negative face of the country do not deserve any exemption," it added.

“We, on behalf of the youth of the entire Balochistan, assure that all the youth are with the Pakistan Army and Pakistan and strongly reject such tragedies and demand strict action under the Military Act,” demanded the delegation.

Last month, in an unprecedented show of vandalism, protestors allegedly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, vandalised public and state properties and even attacked the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore corps commander’s residence, also known as the Jinnah House.

The attack occurred hours after the paramilitary Rangers arrested the PTI chief in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case – later retitled as National Crime Agency £190 million scandal – on the orders of the National Accountability Bureau, from the Islamabad High Court premises.
