Former president Zardari says Pakistan People's Party considers public service an obligation

Former President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated Murtaza Wahab on being elected mayor of Karachi. Zardari congratulated all newly elected mayors, deputy mayors, heads of district councils and town committees across Sindh.

In his statement, the former president said that the success of the elected local body representatives was the result of the workers' hard work.

Zardari, while congratulating Murtaza Wahab as mayor and Salman Abdullah Murad as deputy mayor, said that the elected local government representatives belonging to the party should keep the doors of their offices open for the public.

He directed the local bodies' representatives belonging to the party to start their work from today. He said that Pakistan Peoples Party considers public service an obligation.

Meanwhile, representatives of traders and industry congratulated Murtaza Wahab for being elected as mayor Karachi and Salman Murad as deputy mayor. Anjuman Tajran Karachi President Javed Shams said that the small traders of Karachi expect PPP to give a new impetus to the local government system of the city.

Small traders expect the newly-elected mayor and his team to address basic issues like sewage, parking and road repairs around markets.

Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) President Farazur Rahman and other congratulated PPP candidate Murtaza Wahab for being elcted as Mayor of Karachi and Salman Murad for the post of Deputy Mayor. He said that they havebelieve that Murtaza Wahab will play an active role in the construction and development of Karachi.
