Water conservation projects reviewed
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Abdul Haleem Qasuria chaired a meeting regarding the ongoing development projects of Soil and Water Conservation in the province including merged tribal districts and southern districts.
In the meeting Director General Soil and Water Conservation, Yasin Khan Wazir and other relevant officers were in attendance.
A detailed briefing was given to the caretaker provincial minister on various ongoing projects of soil and water conservation in the province.
In the meeting, conservation of water in the rain-fed areas in the southern districts and bringing it to the use of cultivated lands, construction of ground water recharge, cultivation through rainwater in the merged districts of tribal areas, World Bank schemes and other important projects were discussed in detail.
During the briefing, it was revealed that by collecting rainwater through check dams in rainy areas, which is used to irrigate arable lands, farmers and landowners are benefiting a lot, while these rainwaters are used by people at home.
