RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police have registered a case against two of its officers for allegedly kidnapping two young men.

According to the information received from the police sources, two police high-ups, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadiqabad Police Station, were booked in a kidnapping case registered at the Pirwadhai Police Station.

The sources said a case was registered on the complaint of Waseem Bibi, the mother of the victim brothers Rashid Hussain Shah and Majid Hussain Shah, in which she alleged that Gultaj, the SHO of Sadiqabad Police Station, along with other personnel abducted her sons during an operation at Khayaban-e-Sir Syed on June 3.

“After the incident, I visited the Sadiqabad Police Station many times but the SHO did not let me meet my sons,” the complainant alleged and went on to claim that the accused police officers have kept her sons in illegal confinement for the last 10 days. “Neither are they being produced in the court nor is the family allowed to meet them,” the complaint said.

Bibi also alleged that a fabricated FIR was registered against her sons under the provisions of dishonour of a cheque. She said the police had stated in the high court on March 21, 2023, that they did not require the custody of the victims in the case. “I have apprehension that my sons will be killed in illegal police custody.”

On the other hand, the police sources said a case has been registered in Pirwadhai Police Station against Gultaj, the SHO of Sadiqabad Police Station, ASI Ghayyur and other personnel involved in the said operation under section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The sources however said despite registration of the case, the Pirwadhai Police made no attempts to arrest the said SHO as the police officers were allegedly providing relief to their colleague.
