Chakwal’s only amusement park tells a tale of neglect

Allied Park presents abysmal conditions in a densely populated neighbourhood

The only amusement park in Chakwal, constructed at a significant cost, has fallen victim to mismanagement and negligence of the authorities concerned.

The Allied Park, situated in a densely populated neighbourhood, is currently grappling with a host of issues, including broken tracks, locked toilets, overgrown bushes, the presence of stray dogs, and unruly motorcyclists. Security concerns, especially for women, have become a major concern for visitors.

Moreover, the park's expensive fountain is deteriorating and the fences surrounding the park have disappeared in several areas. After trimming the plants, no effort has been made to remove the broken branches and leaves.

Furthermore, the park features five or six boreholes, worth a significant sum, which have been haphazardly dug. Two of these boreholes have become completely ineffective due to improper covering. The pipes on the park's only bridge have broken, and the street lighting system is in disarray. Additionally, the shades that were once placed inside the park for visitors' comfort have been removed.

On the other hand, the condition of Naya Mohalla Park is also deteriorating and garbage is accumulating outside the park.

The swings installed for children within the park are also dilapidated, and cleanliness is severely lacking.

Overall, both parks now serve as unfortunate examples of administrative neglect. The residents have demanded the Chakwal Deputy Commissioner to take steps to address these issues.
