The federal government would privatise or close down 10 institutes as part of its right-sizing drive and tasked the relevant ministries and divisions to firm up their suggestions in this regard, official documents suggested on Friday.
According to the documents available with The Express Tribune, the plan would be implemented in phases. The documents stated that the ministries and divisions would prepare and send their recommendations regarding the privatisation or the closure of these units.
These institutes include Pakistan Institute of Management (PIM); Khadi Craft Development Company (KCDC); Leather Crafts Development Company (LCDC); Southern Punjab Embroidery Industry (SPEI); Speen Yarn Research and Development Company (SYRDC); Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC); Agro Food Processing (AFP); Pakistan Automobile Corporation (PAC); Morafco Industries and Pakistan Chemical and Energy Sector Skills Development Company (PCSDC).
