The District Population Welfare Department of Punjab is implementing various measures to raise awareness among the public regarding the significance of family planning. It is actively working to expand accessible services, thereby enabling marginalised individuals and youngsters to make informed decisions about family planning.

District Officer Sherry Sukhan, during a media briefing, announced the launch of a comprehensive campaign named "Think! If not now, when?" aimed at generating awareness about crucial aspects of family planning.

This initiative seeks to educate the public about the significance of maternal health, the importance of ensuring daughters' education, and the positive impact of strategic family planning on overall family prosperity.

DO Sukhan emphasised the strong link between balanced family formation, effective family planning, and its impact on building prosperous societies.

She said that under this vision, the welfare department was trying to convey its message across all segments of society adding that this campaign aims to engage and enlighten the public on key family planning matters, underscoring the urgency and importance of proactive decision-making.

She further said that the primary objective of the campaign is to foster parental awareness and encourage them to recognize that providing the best upbringing and education for every child is their fundamental responsibility.

She urged parents and elders to offer guidance to newly married couples while encouraging young individuals to seek marriage counselling to prepare for practical life, reproductive health, and the well-being of their future spouses and children.
