Transport fares stay tall despite fuel price fall

Despite a significant reduction in petroleum prices twice within two weeks, the Regional Transport Authority has failed to lower public transport fares.
As a result, public transport operators are charging inflated fares.
Commuters travelling between Rawalpindi and Islamabad are now paying Rs80 per side, with no system in place for fare reductions in taxis, rickshaws, and online ride services for intercity travel.
Between May 15 and June 1, the government decreased the price of petrol by a total of Rs20 per litre, bringing it down from Rs282 to Rs262 per litre.
