Sindh to build tourist centre at Keenjhar Lake

Project aims to create job opportunities, stimulate business growth

KARACHI:

In a recent meeting, held with Sindh Minister for Energy, Imtiaz Sheikh in the chair, the steering committee, acting on the directives of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has decided to set up a world-class tourist centre at Keenjhar Lake.

The Sindh government aims to transform the lake into an attractive destination for national and international tourists.

Imtiaz Sheikh emphasised that the proposed tourist centre will offer state-of-the-art facilities to visitors.

"The introduction of a modern resort is expected to attract local and international tourists, thus boosting tourism in the region," he said.

The area around Keenjhar Lake spans approximately 24 kilometres and efforts are underway to identify a suitable location for the resort.

The project is also expected to create numerous employment opportunities and stimulate business growth, ultimately contributing to the country's economy. The Kuwait Investment Company gave a detailed briefing on the construction of the resort and highlighted its world-class design and modern amenities.

The minister stated, while Sindh boasts several tourist destinations, it is crucial to provide comprehensive facilities to enhance the overall tourist experience and attract a greater number of domestic and international visitors.

He assured that the Sindh government is committed to establishing a world-class resort at the Lake and that incorporating top-notch facilities for tourists is an integral part of this project.

Sheikh further directed officials to finalise the resort's location, so that the approval to be granted in the upcoming meeting.

Special Assistant to CM Qasim Naveed Qamar, MPA Ali Hasan Zardari, Secretary of the Investment Department, Secretary of Irrigation, and the Public-Private Partnership Unit Director-General were present on the occasion.
