May, the fifth month of the year, ended up being the deadliest month as police miserably failed to curb street crimes as bandits shot 19 citizens dead and injured many others on resistance during snatching bids.
Victims of the brutal shootings during robberies included police officials, shopkeepers, workers, and other civilians.
According to statistics, two police officials and five individuals were killed in the East district and six citizens in the West for resisting robberies.
Two residents of Keamari and two of Central district were killed by robbers. In Korangi district, an elderly man was shot a week after his son was slain by armed robbers striking with impunity in their neighbourhood. A total of 62 persons lost their lives during the first five months at the hands of ruthless gun-toting marauders including a Rangers official, three police officials, two women, a burger stall owner and many others.
