RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) removed encroachments from city roads during a drive against rule violators.

According to a spokesperson, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) had ordered to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

He said the CTP conducted operations that resulted in the clearance of numerous areas. Additionally, 36 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against encroachers in the past month.

During these operations, over 186 handcarts were confiscated, and a significant number of encroachments were removed with the assistance of relevant departments, the spokesperson added. The CTP has issued 2,426 challan tickets to those violating no-parking rules and 2,349 challan tickets to individuals causing hindrances to other road users.

The CTO has instructed Traffic Wardens to intensify their efforts against encroachments without any bias. Strict actions will be taken against violators, particularly encroachers and those who violate parking regulations, as part of comprehensive endeavors to alleviate traffic congestion on city roads, the spokesperson emphasised.

He further highlighted that the CTP personnel have been directed to take prompt action against traffic rule violators, aiming to address issues faced by other road users.

While the CTP is making earnest efforts to resolve traffic problems, it is imperative to eliminate encroachments to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the roads. The spokesperson urged citizens to cooperate with the Traffic Police, as collective efforts are crucial to resolve traffic issues and facilitate a seamless traffic experience.
