Pakistani-American actor Kumail Nanjiani has been roped in in the upcoming Insidious prequel with This Is Us star, Mandy Moore. According to Deadline, the duo will work together on the franchise's sixth film, Thread: An Insidious Tale. Nanjiani and Moore will essay husband and wife in the next horror film.
The story would be an “offshoot” of the series and not follow the Lamberts or any of the established characters. It would instead see a “husband and wife (Nanjiani and Moore) who enlist the help of a spell to travel back in time, such that they can prevent the death of their young daughter. The consequences, of course, prove to be severe.”
The upcoming film will be written and directed by Jeremy Slater. Before Nanjiani and Moore's Thread, another Insidious film is all set to release next month. Insidious: The Red Door will hit the screens in July and will continue the original franchise‘s storyline. In this film, we will see Josh Lambert heading east to drop his son, Dalton, at college.
However, this new chapter of Dalton’s life quickly turns into a terrifying nightmare when the demons from his past start haunting both father and son.
The Insidious film franchise is a popular series of horror movies that first hit the big screen in 2010. Since then, it has gained a massive fan following owing to its supernatural themes and suspenseful storytelling. Currently, the Insidious film franchise comprises the following: Insidious (2010), Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), Insidious: The Last Key (2018) and the upcoming Insidious: The Red Door (2023).
