‘No CNG kits for public transport’

Sharjeel says Sindh Mass Transit Authority to get force like Motorway Police

KARACHI:

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has been banned for public transport in Sindh.

Minister for Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon made the announcement in a press conference held at Archives Complex Clifton on Wednesday.

This step was taken in accordance with the decisions made during a meeting of the transport department. Additionally, the minister emphasized the need to clear illegal encroachments and occupations on bus stands and depots across the province.

Sharjeel pointed out that some PTI leaders were illegally occupying the land of the Sindh transport department. The encroached properties will be repossessed and converted into bus terminals with all modern amenities.

To enhance road transport operations and ensure compliance with traffic rules and regulations, the Sindh Mass Transit Authority intends to establish a specialized force similar to the Motorway Police. This force will monitor government transportation and maintain road safety standards.

In response to a request from the transport department, the proposal to allocate 500 buses in the upcoming budget is currently under consideration. The transport department is actively working to expand its services to cover all districts of Sindh.
