Khalilur Rehman Qamar confirms Humayun Saeed to star in 'Main Manto Nahi Hoon'

The writer also hinted that Sajal Aly is set to share the screen with Saeed in the upcoming play

Renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar has recently disclosed the names of the main actors for his upcoming play, Main Manto Nahi Hoon. Although the drama had been temporarily put on hold for various reasons, the production team plans to release it soon. While there were speculations about Mehwish Hayat and Maya Ali potentially joining the cast of the project set to be directed by Nadeem Baig, no confirmation regarding their involvement in the show had been received.

During a recent appearance on the Mazaaq Raat, Qamar unveiled the lead actor for his forthcoming play. He excitedly announced that Humayun Saeed has been cast in the lead role - a fact that Saeed himself had confirmed earlier in an Independent Urdu interview. However, when the program's host, Vasay Chaudhry, inquired about the female lead, Qamar playfully stated, "I have been told not to take Sajal Aly's name," making the host and the audience burst into laughter.

It is worth mentioning that Saeed, known for his memorable performance in the drama Meray Paas Tum Ho, has primarily focused on films in recent times. Nonetheless, his absence from television dramas has left his fans longing to see him on the small screen again. With his collaboration with the celebrated writer in Main Manto Nahi Hoon, Saeed's admirers are eagerly anticipating his return to the realm of TV dramas.

While the play has faced some delays, the revelation of Saeed's involvement has generated significant buzz among audiences. As fans eagerly await further updates, the anticipation for Main Manto Nahi Hoon continues to grow. The fact that Aly may be a part of the project further adds to the overall anticipation.

On the small screen, Saeed was last seen as Doctor Hasnat in Netflix's royal drama, The Crown. In a previous interview, Saeed revealed that he was thrilled to have been offered the role, as he was a fan of the show and had watched the previous seasons. “The project was so big. I was very happy at the opportunity to work in it,” said the London Nahi Jaunga star.

The Punjab Nahi Jaungi star further went on, “I personally loved The Crown too, I watched the first four seasons. When it was offered to me, I couldn't believe that I would be myself in the fifth season, it was a big deal for me.” He also shared his thoughts on playing a real-life character for the first time, saying that although he had never played such a role before, the roles he typically plays are also somewhat based on real-life people or situations
