Asim, Shae’s ‘Bulleya’ is a mellow song about love, peace and harmony
Asim Azhar’s highly anticipated collaboration with Shae Gill is finally out and fans have given it all the love there is. Bulleya, a song about love, harmony and peace, has a soft melody that is relaxing and groovy at the same time. Azhar describes it as a travel song – a mellow tune that keeps you going on the road and in life. You can jam to it, sleep to it, and groove to it.
While the song is about love and peace, Azhar’s world was devoid of it a day before its release. However, it was the lyrics of Bulleya only that made him want to believe in the ways of life. “A song I wrote five years ago about peace, love and harmony, not knowing where it would end up, is finally yours today. Yesterday, I lost someone very dear to me. I didn’t know if I wanted to release this song today anymore. But then I kept thinking about the lyrics of this song which I wrote about life,” he captioned the post.
The Ghalat Fehmi singer shared the Punjabi verses from the song that became his motivation. “‘Bandeya ki sochi peh gaya, uth jawana ki palle reh gaya, na kar manmani bullah aye keh gaya, nafs mera kahe… chal chal bulleya, othay chaliye.’ Life is so fragile and short. This song is a message for everyone to be kind, loving & tolerant – especially in times like these, we are in today,” he added.
Azhar further thanked Gill for “blessing this song with her soul and vocals” and hoped that their fans would relate to the piece of art they created. “Chal chal bulleya, othay chaliye,” he concluded.
The music video for Bulleya, directed by Bilawal Hussain Abbassi, has a fun, mellow vibe that gets you in the mood to chill and take life a little easy. It shows Asim in a car looking at the little instances of love in the city of lights before entering the studio where he records the song. The visuals then move to a dessert where the two jam to the song on bikes, in bed, on the radio and well, everywhere.
The song has already garnered around 200,000 views a day after its release. Fans, on social media, also reacted to the song, with most finding Gill’s voice a gift to the song. “Shae Gill is literally so real for making that song with Asim Azhar sound good,” wrote a user. “Finally! A good Asim song that goes straight into your playlist! Shae Gill is simply magic. She always elevates the song to the next level,” wrote another.
