Tribute paid to late poet Amjad Islam Amjad

LAHORE:

The second day of the three-day Jashn-e-Jaun Elia organised jointly by the Lahore Arts Council and Ishqabad saw panelists engaging in vibrant literary sessions, fostering new avenues of dialogue.

The day featured various sessions, including discussions on historiography, a dialogue with writer Asghar Nadeem Syed, exploration of the history of journalism, a tribute to then late poet Amjad Islam Amjad and events inspired by Jaun Elia's work.

Discussions on contemporary Urdu Ghazal and fiction, storytelling, soulful Punjabi poetry by Sultan Mahmood Ashafta, reflections on the Indus Valley Civilisation, a conversation with writer Anwar Maqsood, analysis of Majeed Amjad's poetry and a Mushaira also enthralled the audience.

The sessions celebrated diverse literary genres.

The festival will conclude on Sunday. Alhamra Centre Executive Director Muhammad Saleem Sagar emphasised his commitment to providing a conducive environment for the local and international participants.
