Two injured in separate snatching incidents

Robbers continue to roam free after terrorising citizens

RAWALPINDI:

Robbers continue to snatch away valuables from the citizens of Rawalpindi with complete impunity. Despite tall claims by the police, incidents of street crime are on the rise in the garrison city.

Two people were seriously injured when they offered resistance during separate mugging incidents in different areas of the city.

According to sources, snatchers opened fire while trying to snatch wallets and mobile phones and seriously injured two people in Newtown and Muree Road areas.

In the first incident which took place near Newtown, armed suspects tried to snatch the mobile phone from Saqlain, 23, and opened fire over resistance, leaving the victim seriously injured on the spot. The accused, however, managed to make good their escape.

The second incident took place outside the Liaquat Bagh Metro station in the Muree Road area of the City Police Station, where the snatchers opened fire on 32-year-old Hashoor over resistance during an armed robbery. Both the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals after the provision of first aid by the Rescue 1122 personnel.

The police have registered separate cases and launched an investigation.
