Chief Investigating Officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, who was responsible for the arrest of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, in a high-profile drugs case, has found himself embroiled in a controversy.
Wankhede has been booked under corruption charges, and in a recent development, he has submitted alleged WhatsApp conversations with SRK as evidence to defend himself against the charges.
In these purported WhatsApp exchanges between Wankhede and the superstar, Shah Rukh is seen pleading with the officer to release his son and expressing his concern about Aryan's well-being. The actor acknowledges that his son may have deviated from the right path but insists that Aryan does not deserve to be incarcerated.
Using the respectful term "Sameer Sahab" to address Wankhede, Shah Rukh Khan implores the officer to consider the impact of jail time on his son, emphasizing that the experience would break him.
One of the text messages shared with the media by India Today reads, "But my son is not part of that please. You also know that. You know his part is minuscule in it. All he needs is reformation and for that he has had his quota and I will also follow suit with what we talked in terms of making him a better person."
SRK further reportedly says, "Please man I beg you there is nothing from my side that is participant in the vested interests. I went out of my way and without even knowing them called and begged them not to involve my child in their politics. The people here and also the person in the North. I spoke as a father to them and even chided them that they are harming my kid in their selfish interests."
The text further reads, "Please man don't make him pay for these assholes and vested people. I beg you man please. It's a larger thing - my son and my family I swear play no part in it. I have even refrained from talking to anyone and even told all these foolish people not to speak on my behalf. When we speak I will tell you what I have done in my capacity not to hurt your drive to be upright. I swear man. Please! Beg vou."
SRK assures Wankhede that his son would undergo a transformation and become a person they could both be proud of. The actor expresses his gratitude for the invaluable assistance provided by Wankhede and expresses a desire to meet the officer in person, offering a heartfelt hug. He even applauds Wankhede for his mission, presumably aimed at eradicating drug consumption, and extends his willingness to offer any support possible.
More excerpts from the conversation see SRK stating, "If in any way without losing your integrity as an officer of [the] law, you can help with whatever manner possible please. I will always be indebted. I don't know the technicalities but if the department in charge feels all is okay and to your satisfaction...if then your authority furnishes a 'short reply' with whatever conditions your team may have."
He allegedly writes further, "I promise you whatever cooperation you would need from him will be done to the best of his abilities. Just please consider this request favourably it will be a huge favour because the family just wants him home, and not get stamped with having been a convict in a notorious prison. It will really help with his future and that's why I am making this, beyond reasonable request as a father. I hope you consider it please for his sake."
The texts also see him asking Wankhede to not break his family's heart. "Please don't break our heart today my man. Please. It's a father-to-father request. I love my children just like you do yours and exterior forces cannot be allowed to cloud a father-to-father feeling, please. I am a kind and gentle person Sameer please don't let my faith break in you and the system. Please it will shatter us as a family. Thank you for trying to help. Extremely grateful forever."
SRK seems to maintain his respectful demeanour throughout. "You have noticed my behaviour through all this," he allegedly writes in another series of texts. "You know I would never stand by anything against what you are doing. I believed it when you said you are thinking of Aryan as your own and want to make him a better person. I haven't done anything to not help my son get that reformation. I haven't been in press. I haven't made a statement. I have just believed in your goodness. Please please don't let me down as a father. Please."
It is important to note that these alleged text messages have not been independently verified or cross-checked for authenticity. They are said to be part of Wankhede's petition submitted in response to the corruption charges of $3.4 million levelled against him in relation to Aryan's drugs case.
The ongoing legal battle surrounding Aryan's arrest has garnered significant attention from the media and the public alike. As the case continues to unfold, these purported conversations between the biggest superstar in India and Wankhede have added another layer of complexity to an already high-profile controversy.
