Police say they were returning home after SSC-I examinations

Two students were killed while one was injured in a road accident in Fateh Jang on Thursday. According to police, in Jafar village, the students riding a motorcycle were hit by a speeding van. Resultantly, 15-year-old Zain Akhtar and 14-year-old Muhammad Asim died on the spot while 14-year-old Safiullah received critical injuries.

The students were returning after class 9 paper at Jafar High School. The bodies were handed over to the families while the Rescue 1122 team shifted the injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Fateh Jang after first aid. He was later referred to Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi due to critical condition.

On the same day in Wah Cannt, two robbers were arrested after a shootout with police near a graveyard in Bajjar area in the limits of Wah Cantonment police station in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to a police spokesman, the patrolling party of Wah Cantonment police station led by SHO Muhammad Rafeeq was on duty on the link road of the town. The party signalled four persons riding on two different motorcycles to stop. However, they opened fire at the police team which was subsequently retaliated.

During the firing exchange, two suspects received gunshot wounds due to the firing of their own accomplices. They were later apprehended in injured condition, however, their two companions managed to escape.
