Two stabbed over petty dispute in capital

Sources say capital police could not arrest any of the accused despite identification

ISLAMABAD:

At least two persons were critically injured when their neighbours attacked them with knives and stick over a minor dispute in the Alipur area the federal capital.

Sources said despite the identification of the accused, the capital police could not arrest any of them.

According to a spokesperson for the police, the dispute arose from placing stones in the street which turned bloody.

One of the victims named Mehrban Shah told police that he is a resident of Dhok Baba Noor of Ali pur in Islamabad and had prevented his neighbours from placing stones in the street and creating hurdles.

He further stated that on the day of the incident, Mohammed Shamraiz, the accused, repeated the practice upon which I stopped him. This led to a quarrel, however, bystanders intervened and made reconciliation.

Later, he said, the accused named Waqas, Mohammad Waqar, and Shamraiz’s third son placed stones in the street again and when we tried to stop them, they attacked him with a knife.

He said when his brother came for his rescue, they also attacked him.
