Fund released for UoT solarisation project

Owing to the keen interest and efforts of Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), has released funds for one-megawatt solar project of University of Turbat (UoT).

Kakar raised the matter of UoT solarisation project with the Chairman of HEC Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed in Islamabad last month.

During the meeting, Governor Balochistan requested the Chairman HEC to release funds for the solar project of UoT at the earliest. The HEC has recently released the funds for the first phase of the solar project, which will have an output capacity of 500 kilowatts of renewable energy. According to Dr Kamal Ahmed, Project Director of UoT, the work on the first phase of the solarisation project will be started within two weeks.

The Vice Chancellor of UoT, Prof Dr Jan Muhammad extended his gratitude to governor through a telephonic conversation and the Chairman HEC on Monday for their timely support in this regard.

The VC said that solarisation project will not only resolve the long-standing electricity problem of the university on a permanent basis but also result in a handsome saving on account of monthly electricity bills.

He appreciated that the incumbent governor is paying special attention to the development of public sector universities of Balochistan.
