HYDERABAD:

A policeman was killed and two others were injured in an armed attack by alleged dacoits at a police check post in the limits of Aandal Sundrani police station in Ghotki district on Monday.

SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio while speaking to the media, confirmed the attack and casualties. He said, outlaws attacked the Sadiq Lakhan police check post in broad daylight.

After the attack they escaped without suffering any casualty. The martyred constable Khalid Hussain Memon and the injured cops were shifted to the Civil Hospital Ghotki. The funeral prayer of Memon was held at the police line.

The SSP said the police force in Ghotki and neighbouring districts are busy in operation under a well-planned strategy to eliminate dacoits and outlaws who are killing and kidnapping people.

Earlier on April 4, SHO Jamal Abdul Latif Mirani died, while DSP Qalandar Bux Soomro and Constable Ishq Mirani were injured during the police operation against dacoits in a riverine forest in Kashmore-Kandhkot.

SSP Irfan Samo had told the media that three separate gangs of dacoits had ambushed the police party moving in armoured personnel carriers (APCs).

Later on April 15, dacoits in the Katcha [Riverine Forest] area killed policemen Hadi Domki and Sabir Domki. SHO Mehar and four constables, including Shahaq Jakhrani, Ali Gul Domki, Misri Jakhrani, and Wahab Jakhrani, were injured in the attack.
