‘Trade with Afghanistan to promote peace’

Muttaqi assured that Afghanistan’s soil would not be used against any neighbouring country

Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, the Ameer of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, said on Monday that the improvement in the Pakistan-Afghan relations would promote peace in both the countries and bring positive changes in economic condition of both the peoples.

During a meeting with Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Muttaqi, Haqqani stressed that friendship between Pakistan and Afghanistan could ensure a stable route from Pakistan and Afghanistan and to the Central Asia, Russia and Europe.

“The Pakistani nation is glad at the restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan,” Haqqani said. “We are willing to contribute to the development of the Afghan nation, who have made many sacrifices,” he added.

On the occasion, Muttaqi assured that Afghanistan’s soil would not be used against any neighbouring country. “The doors of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will always be opened for the people of Pakistan,” he said. “Our land route to Pakistan is secure.”

The Afghan foreign minister said that the purpose of his visit was to eliminate misunderstanding and promote political and inter-regional relations.

Afghanistan's Commerce Minister Nooruddin Azizi and Pakistan's Minister of Religious Affairs Talha Mehmood, Maulana Rashidul Haq Sami, Maulana Sheikh Muhammad Idris, Maulana Syed Muhammad Yusuf Shah, Maulana Usama Sami, Maulana Abdul Haq, Maulana Khazeema Sami, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Tahir Panjpiri, Maulana Muhammad Ahmed, Maulana Fazlur Rahman Khalil, Maulana Alvi, Mufti Owais Aziz and other scholars of Pakistan and Afghanistan were also present during the meeting.
