E-registration of properties kicks off in Rawalpindi
The Punjab Land Records Authority has started e-registration of properties in the Rawalpindi Division to eliminate the dependence of owners on ‘middlemen’ and eliminate chances of tempering with record during registration.
According to a stamen, an event was held for the inauguration of the system at the Rawalpindi District Council Hall where Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha attended the function as a chief guest.
While inaugurating the e-registration facility, Liaquat Ali Chatha said the Punjab government has provided the facility of e-registration to the people to serve people at their doorstep.
“A web portal has been created for e-registration which will eliminate the necessity of middlemen and instances of counterfeiting,” he said.
The high official said public involvement and responsibility have been ensured for good governance in the province.
The authority’s Additional Director Operations Mohammad Shafiq Chaudhry said that customers will get the challan from the e-stamp web portal and after paying the prescribed fee in Bank of Punjab, customers will be able to write the guarantee at home.
Punjab Land Record Authority Deputy Director of Systems Development Farooq Qureshi said that users will be able to register sellers, buyers, and witnesses from the comfort of their home.
“It will be digitally transferred to the sub-registrar after writing an affidavit. Users shall submit biometric verification and statements before the sub-registrar on time.
After verifying the statements, the certified copy of the registry will be obtained, he said adding that a province-wide training programme has been organised for district administration, assistant commissioners, sub-registrars, and stamp vendors.
Training has been conducted at all 10 headquarters, he added.
Additional Commissioner Kinza Murtaza, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nabil, assistant commissioners, sub-registrars, and stamp vendors participated in the training regarding e-registration.
A question and answer session was also held in the training session.
