The sanctity of the shrine of the famous Sufi Saint, Baba Fariduddin Ganj Shakar in Pakpattan district has been violated in a disturbing incident that has gone viral on social media.
A video showing the shooting of a newlywed bride and groom at the shrine has sparked outrage among religious circles and has led to action being taken against negligent officials.
According to Express News, the shooting of the bride's ‘dance’ in the courtyard of the shrine continued for an hour and was captured on CCTV footage which was later uploaded on social media.
The incident has been condemned by religious circles who have expressed extreme anger over the violation of the sacred space of the shrine.

In response to the incident, the police have taken action and suspended three officials, including the police inspector, for negligence. The authorities have also registered a case against three nominated persons, including the cameraman and the unknown bride and groom.
It should be noted that the Auqaf authorities have suspended a supervisor to allegedly protect senior officials.
