ISLAMABAD:

MNA Noor Alam Khan, who is also chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday told the National Assembly that the PAC summoned the Supreme Court registrar but the official failed to appear before the parliament’s accountability body.

“We have summoned the SC registrar because the Constitution gives us the right to hold institutions accountable. We are entitled to summon the principal account officer of any institution,” he said.

Apparently referring to courts, he said: “We appear before you. If you are clean, you should also allow us to put you under scrutiny. At least submit records so that people may know who has been exploiting the country.

On April 19, the PAC once again summoned the SC registrar for not conducting an audit of the SC’s financial records. PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan observed that the top court had not had its financial records audited for the past 10 years.
