The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) observed 30th death anniversary of its founding chairman Azeem Ahmed Tariq who was assassinated by armed men at his residence in Federal B Area on May 1, 1993.

MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui along with senior deputy convener and deputy conveners, members of coordination committee also visited his grave and called to revive the philosophy of the founding chairman of the movement.

The main gathering was held in a park adjacent to Bahadurabad, the centre of MQM Pakistan in Karachi.

Member of coordination committee, Abdul Haseeb, offered a collective prayer. He prayed for the high status of martyrs, including the martyred chairman Azeem Ahmed Tariq, for patience for families, for early release of captive workers, for the recovery of the missing workers and for political stability in the country.

MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressing the gathering at said that the movement was in despair when Chairman Azeem Ahmed Tariq, who founded APMSO in 1974, was martyred in 1993. "Thirty years ago MQM was deprived of the ideology of its founder," Siddiqui said.

He said that the Shaheed chairman was not allowed to represent the nation the way he wanted.

Siddiqui said that on the 30th death anniversary of Azeem Ahmed Tariq, we promise to take the movement to its destination by adhering to his education, thought, philosophy and ideology.

Senior Deputy Convenor Mustafa Kamal said that martyrdom of Azeem Ahmed Tariq and Dr. Imran Farooq was an irreparable loss of Mohajir nation. We all are guilty of remaining silent on all these atrocities.

Senior Deputy Convener Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the ideological literature of APMSO and MQM was drafted by Azeem Ahmed Tariq. MQM was an ideological movement launched by Azeem Ahmed Tariq and his assassination was the first move to deviate the movement from its true path and divide the Mohajir community.

Sattar said a united movement was reborn on January 11, 2023. We all have to correct our mistakes and make the movement strong together, he concluded.
