No let-up in deadly road crashes in Punjab
At least 11 people died, whereas 1,187 were injured in 1,062 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Out of this 644 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 543 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.
The majority (69%) involved motorcycles. Further, the analysis showed that 554 drivers, 34 underage drivers, 125 pedestrians, and 519 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 237 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 273 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 69 in Faisalabad with 77 victims and at third Gujranwala 61 with 69 victims.
The details further reveal that 1,187 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 944 males and 254 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 254 were under 18 years of age, 592 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 352 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data 893 motorcycles, 82 auto-rickshaws, 128 cars, 29 vans, 11 buses, 19 trucks and 98 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
