Singer-actor Ali Zafar’s wardrobe choices for his Toronto concert have mired him into a controversy yet again – this time, it’s deciding which political party he supports. The Jhoom singer woke up with a bunch of hate messages inquiring if he now supports a party that has left many “homeless” and “broke” back at home.
Zafar, on Monday, took to Twitter to clarify two things; first, the jacket was a gift and features multiple symbols representing political parties and second, he only wore it for the soundcheck. “Yaar, so many messages as I turn on my phone in Vancouver inquiring about if I have joined any party,” he wrote, expressing that the chaos was unnecessary.
“Firstly, I was wearing a red jacket at the concert in Toronto last night. The much talked about image is in the hoodie I wore at the sound check before the concert from a brand named ‘Raasta’ that uses local symbols and desi catchphrases for aesthetic purposes,” he further added.
Posting close-up images of his hoodie, the singer revealed that the jacket had multiple symbols like a bat, an arrow and more. “The same hoodie had a balla (bat) and a teer (arrow) also. I just wore it casually as he’d sent a gift. Next time, I’ll even think before wearing my intimates.”

A Twitter user who bashed Zafar for representing a “heinous criminal party” straight up “rejected” his justification. “Not acceptable, justification rejected! Knowing what PML-N and the current PDM Imported government have done to Pakistan and its people, you can’t just casually laugh it off with this crap explanation,” read the tweet.
Not acceptable, justifucation REJECTED. Knowing what PMLN & the current PDM Imported Govt have done to Pakistan & its people you just casually laugh it off with this crap explanation, Whatever! https://t.co/FwTqHbFULy

Another user said they’d “unfollow” the singer for choosing the hoodie. “Going to unfollow you on wearing a hoodie of imported government where people are dying and there are no human rights. You have to be ashamed to support such parties who torture people on their political differences,” they wrote.

A tweep said, “Enough is enough.” They wrote, “It’s not personal but any XYZ celebrity, who will give a hint of supporting corrupt murderer parties, must be held accountable straightaway.”

However, some people supported Zafar and rallied for his choice of clothing. “He can wear whatever he wants and the jacket has multiple symbols,” read a tweet while another user felt like the Madhubala singer did this “for attention.”
I just feel you do all this for attention, nothing else. https://t.co/PKahNfY598
