KARACHI:

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday lambasted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for condemning the late-night raid at former chief minister Punjab Pervez Elahi’s residence.

Memon took to Twitter and reacted to Imran’s tweet saying that “when police came for arrests during PTI’s tenure, the leaders of Pakistan People Party (PPP) had presented themselves for arrests with grace and courage”.

He added that “they didn't run away like you [Imran] and Pervez Elahi”.

Referring to the former premier, the minister said “you are the declared emperor of money laundering”, adding that the “decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has removed the mask of nobility and honesty from your [Imran] face”.

“Billions of rupees had been accumulated in Bani Gala through Farah Gogi and Usman Buzdar. Robbers like you will have to account for this historical corruption,” he asserted.

The comments by the provincial minister come as the PTI chairman “strongly condemned the illegal raid on Elahi's home with no respect to the women and family members present [in the house]. We are seeing the dismantling of democracy in Pakistan before our eyes”.

Imran wrote in a late-night tweet: “There is no respect for Constitution, Supreme Court verdicts, or fundamental rights of the people – only law of jungle and fascism. All part of London Plan to demoralise and crush PTI.
