LAHORE:

Former Lahore CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has refused to hand over a file to the joint investigation team (JIT) pertaining to attack on PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The PTI chief survived an assassination attempt on November 3 last year in Wazirabad while suffering injuries to his leg.

The JIT sources claimed that Dogar was asked several times to hand over the file but he did not do so.

While serving as Lahore CCPO, Dogar had faced allegations of being close to the PTI government.

The former CCPO maintained that PTI leader Yasmin Rashid had filed a writ in the court, adding that he would hand over the file when the high court announces its verdict.

The JIT sources said that investigation into the assassination attempt could not start as they had not received the file.

The current JIT comprises DIG Kamran Adil, Ehsanullah Chohan and SP Naseebullah.

Dogar retired after reaching the age of superannuation on April 23.
