‘Killer cops’ to face the music

CM pays respects to families whose sons fell victim to police firing, promises financial assistance, govt jobs

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited Shah Rukn Alam Colony, the residence of Samiullah and Mohammad Usman’s Mohalla Dogran and extended his condolences to the families of the youths killed by police firing.

Naqvi announced financial assistance for both families and government jobs to the brothers of the victims. He added that police will also provide financial assistance from its own resources.

“It’s a murder and the accused will get exemplary punishment,” the Caretaker CM said. One accused has so far been arrested and IG Punjab was directed to arrest the other two within the next 72 hours.

The Caretaker CM ordered the best medical facilities to the injured Muhammad Irfan and assured that the officers responsible will be brought to justice. Information Minister Amir Mir said that it should be ensured that no pressure is put on the families of the deceased youths.

Addl IG (South Punjab) said that the constable was arrested and raids were under way to arrest other accused persons.
