Caretaker CM asks IG to take action after inquiry

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has sought a report from the inspector general of police about the death of two youths by police firing in Multan.

According to an official statement, he directed the IG to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and take action against those responsible.

He was quoted as saying that justice for the heirs of the deceased should be ensured and noting that there was no justification for the firing.

“I assure the heirs that justice will be done at any cost; I have heartfelt sympathy for the heirs and express my condolences to them,” he added.

The caretaker CM earlier extended Eid greetings to Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman and discussed matters of mutual interest on the day of Eidul Fitr.

During the meeting, Governor Balighur Rahman paid tribute to the remarkable sacrifices made by the martyrs and the caretaker CM expressed his deep respect for those who bravely gave their lives to safeguard the nation.

Mohsin Naqvi also visited the Mayo Hospital during the holidays and inquired about the condition of an elderly woman who had been injured in stampede in Sahiwal, as well as other patients.

He applauded the doctors, nurses and paramedics who were working tirelessly during the holidays.
