Another nod to love: Komal Rizvi ties the knot with Silicon Valley tech tycoon
Congratulations are in order for singer and actor Komal Rizvi! The Washmallay crooner gave love a chance again and took fans by surprise on Friday with the news of her wedding to US-based S. Ali Uppal, the CEO and co-founder of a multi-billion dollar company in Silicon Valley. As per a press release, Uppal is one of the most influential men in the Trillion Dollar industry of Networks and 5G.
On Friday, Rizvi shared her loved-up pictures from the private ceremony and announced her marriage on Instagram. “Here is a solemn promise; to always dream with you, celebrate with you, and walk beside you through whatever life may bring,” she captioned the post. The pictures showed a beautiful emerald ring covered with diamond studs.
Rizvi looked gorgeous in an all-silver embroidered lehenga made by her own mother and kept her hair up in a sleek bun to flaunt her heavy intricate jewellery. The event was an intimate one attended only by close friends and family. The groom, on the other hand, chose a white suit and a textured blue shirt for the ceremony.
The Coke Studio star expressed her gratitude for all the blessings in life and shared how excited she is for this new chapter in her life. "I am beyond grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way. From my music to my business ventures, I have been able to pursue my passions and make a positive impact. And now, I am thrilled to embark on this new journey with the love of my life by my side,” she stated.
Rizvi was previously in an abusive marriage from which she got a divorce. In a podcast with Nadir Ali earlier, she revealed that her marriage, which was semi-arranged, was plagued by abuse and manipulation from her husband. Despite trying her best to make the marriage work, she was unaware of the line that should not be crossed in any relationship and suffered in silence for four years.
The singer spoke candidly about being hit, manipulated, and subjected to psychological abuse, and expressed regret for wasting her prime years on someone who was not deserving of her love and care. She also spoke about the lack of support she received from the authorities in Oman, where she was living with her husband at the time.
Rizvi was part of a number of hit TV shows on PTV. She started her singing career in 1999 at the age of 16 with her debut song Bauji Bauji Bhangra Sade Naal Paoji, which became an overnight hit. Her debut drama Hawaain was released in 1997 and she went on to act in Lehrein Kabhi Kabhi, Teesra Peher and Samandar Hai Darmiyan. She also hosted shows such as Karachi Nights With Komal and Mornings With Komal. Rizvi is also an entrepreneur with her skincare line called TrulyKomal.
