Beauty salons do lucrative business during Eid season
Beauty salons in the metropolitan city are doing a roaring business as women rush to have a makeover of their choice for Eid-ul-Fitr, the festival when families get together to celebrate the joyous occasion. These beauty salons have extended their business hours to cater to maximum customers to make most of the season.
According to a survey conducted by The Express Tribune, young girls mostly go to beauty salons for plucking, upper lips, haircut, high lights, low lights, French pedicure, manicure, hair dye, hair mask, hair styling and various hair treatments, while older women prefer different facials and hair dyes.
Women say that Eid preparations seem incomplete without a visit to the beauty parlour. “In Karachi, the skin becomes rough due to dust and smoke in the environment,” says Ramsha, who was in Nadoz Parlour, in DHA, for LED hydra facial to look good on Eid. She adds that women are the centre of attention as families and friends meet up to celebrate the festival. “I shall also have a hair detox for hair shine,” says Ramsha.
Sana, a housewife, says that women ignore themselves while doing daily chores and taking care of their families. “I took out time from my busy schedule to come to the salon to focus on myself,” she says.
“My skin is oily and sensitive; therefore, I am having gold facial and extensor,” she adds while complaining about the charges which, according to her, have doubled in comparison with last year. “This year, I bought two dresses instead of three to save up money for these beauty treatments.”
Ambreen, a university student from Saddar, says that she is excited to get artificial eyelashes and nails. “I started saving money several months ago to have my dream of getting acrylic manicure come true,” she tells The Express Tribune.
Beauticians have extended business hours as the beauty salons remain open till late in the night. “Our palour remains open till dawn as we try to cater to the rush of customers,” says Nadoz CEO Nadia Baloch. “We also offer mehndi service on chaand raat,” she adds.
