A team from the Agriculture Department raided an unregistered fertilizers factory and arrested a man and seized counterfeit pesticide products worth Rs2.5 million on Thursday.

Assistant Fertilisers Controller Allah Rakha Sindhu, while leading an official team, raided a factory in Pir Bukhari colony near BCG Chowk where they arrested Ashraf Karnawal, the brother of factory owner Asghar Karnwal and seized counterfeit fertilizers, hundreds of printed empty bags and other materials. The items seized were worth Rs2.5 million.

The official alleged that the accused were preparing five different types of counterfeit fertilisers products and labeling these as DAP, NP, SSP, Sultash, and Premium Gold.

They were preparing the fertilizer without any registration or records and used to sell these in different areas.

Samples were collected from the counterfeit fertilizers and sent to a laboratory for analysis and an application was filed with Mumtazabad police station.
