Discrimination against women: Civil society urged to play its role

Human rights activist says that women are being raped at gun point.

QUETTA:
Civil society has to play its role to curb discrimination against women in Balochistan, said chairperson of the Baloch movement for human rights Rabia Baloch. She was speaking to heads of visiting human rights bodies and welfare organisations from Karachi at a briefing here. She said that in addition to the problem of anti-women tribal traditions a new problem had surfaced — that of women being raped at gun point. She said sexual torture and abuse in Balochistan was a matter of great concern as she urged government to take concrete steps.
