26 killed in Punjab road crashes

At least 26 people died and 1,135 were injured in 1,108 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours. Of the injured, 627 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 508 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority of RTCs, 71 percent, involved motorbikes. Further analysis showed that 559 drivers, 36 underage drivers, 151 pedestrians and 451 passengers were among the victims of RTCs. The statistics show that 276 RTCs were reported in Lahore with 288 victims, placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list. Faisalabad followed behind with 89 RTCs and 100 victims and Multan at third 69 RTCs and 67 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,135 victims were affected by RTCs including 959 males and 202 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 237 were under 18 years of age, 577 were between 18 and 40 years old and the remaining 347 victims were reportedly above 40 years of age. According to the data, 928 motorbikes, 71 auto-rickshaws, 95 cars, 35 vans, 16 passenger buses, 37 trucks and 110 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforementioned RTCs.
