SANS app launched to fight pollution
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has launched a new mobile application called SANS to tackle environmental pollution. This app will enable citizens to file complaints against those who are causing environmental pollution.
In the first phase of this initiative, university students will be able to voluntarily file complaints against individuals and businesses responsible for polluting the environment.
The department concerned will respond immediately to these complaints and update the action taken on the app.
PDMA Director General Imran Qureshi emphasised a dashboard has also been created to monitor the activities of those causing environmental pollution. Moreover, the PDMA's provincial control room will continue to monitor the entire situation.
Citizens can now file complaints against individuals who burn hospital waste and garbage, operate smoke-emitting kilns and vehicles, and factories that run without smoke control devices.
These complaints can be lodged on PDMA's helpline 1129.
According to Imran Qureshi, PDMA's control room has the support of all institutions to control environmental pollution. PDMA is always prepared to deal with any emergency.
