SC moved for removal of Alvi from office

An application has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking removal of President Arif Alvi from his office, stating that instead of fulfilling his constitutional responsibilities, he was biased towards a particular political party.

The plea was filed by a citizen Imtiaz Chaudhry. The applicant maintained that the president had not approved the Supreme Court Procedure Bill sent by the parliament.

It further said that he had refused to sign the NAB Amendment Bill and Islamabad Local Government Act.

The plea noted that that Alvi was biased towards a particular party, adding that his refusal to perform his constitutional responsibilities showed that he was not fit for the office of the president.

Referring to his association with the PTI and its chief Imran Khan, it was further said that Alvi was associated with a political party and was “partial” and that he had not approved the bills on the directions of a party chairman.

The applicant requested the apex court to declare Alvi unfit for the office of the president.
