Students get electric wheelchairs

Governor says differently-abled students were undoubtedly useful and active citizens of society

BAHAWALPUR:

The Governor of Punjab, Muhammad Balighur Rehman, attended the ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Electric Wheelchair Scheme for the differently-abled university students. The ceremony was organised by the Higher Education Commission at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur on Friday.

He also inaugurated 10 new buses for the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s fleet during his visit to the university. Addressing the ceremony, the governor said that the provision of educational facilities to differently-abled students was to ensure the promotion of education on a priority basis as per the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that the differently-abled students were undoubtedly useful and active citizens of society.

The provision of electric wheelchairs by the government to these students would definitely help them in their academic and other activities.

The governor also praised the expansion and development of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, especially the provision of facilities for the differently-abled students.
