It was the right thing to do: Juhi Chawla opens up about helping SRK with Aryan’s drug case
Renowned Indian cinema actor, Juhi Chawla, recently talked about her friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and her involvement in Aryan Khan’s bail in the infamous drugs case. Juhi and Shah Rukh go way back to the ’90s when they starred in multiple blockbuster movies together, including Darr, Yes Boss, and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.
In an exclusive chat with News18, Juhi shared that she wasn’t expecting to be involved in the case, but when the opportunity came up to help out her friend, she took it. “We didn’t know it was coming,” stated the Ishq star. “But when all came down to that moment when I could help, I thought it was the right thing for me to do - to be there for him.”
She was present at the Mumbai sessions court and signed a bond of 1 Lakh rupees as surety for Aryan, signifying that she would be legally responsible, had Aryan failed to pay the amount. Juhi revealed that she thought it was the right thing to do and be there for the Khans when they needed support.
The Duplicate star also revealed that although she and Shah Rukh have been friends for a long time, they rarely get the chance to meet each other. However, she mentioned that her husband, Jay Mehta, is in more frequent contact with Shah Rukh than she is. “One will not believe but I rarely get to see him. Jay is more in touch with him than I am. But yes, we do keep in touch,” stated the actor.
Juhi’s recent appearance at a Kolkata Knight Riders match brought back a lot of memories for her and Shah Rukh. During the match, the title track of Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani was played, and she expressed her surprise at the fact that 23 years after its release, the song is still remembered by people. She jokingly remarked that if she had known the song would still be popular, she would have done things differently. However, Shah Rukh reminded her that the song’s popularity was due to its innocence, which struck a chord with the audience.
Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan’s friendship has stood the test of time, and they continue to remain good friends. They co-own the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, which was founded in 2007. Juhi’s involvement in Aryan Khan’s bail has once again demonstrated the depth of their friendship and their unwavering support for each other.
