PM hails smooth distribution of free flour

Shehbaz urges priority to women, sick and elderly at distribution centres

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed on Wednesday the smooth distribution process of free wheat flour among the deserving people of Punjab in the holy month of Ramazan and assured that the government would continue subsidy on flour for the deserving.

Speaking during a visit to the flour distribution centre in Dera Ghazi Khan, the prime minister stressed the need for patience, urging that women, elderly people, sick and special persons should be given priority in the distribution process.

“Be patient in obtaining flour and maintain peace and order,” the prime minister asked the recipients. “Women, elderly, sick and special persons should be given first priority,” he added.

Shehbaz said that the country was facing a difficult situation and enormous challenges but the government trying its level best for the welfare of the masses and providing relief to them.

He praised the distribution of free wheat flour in Punjab under the supervision of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. “For the first time in the country's history, a big package of free flour distribution has been given in Ramazan,” he continued.

“At first, I also had reservations but the scheme is progressing smoothly. After the end of Ramadan, provision of cheap flour to the shops will be considered. The welfare of the people is our first duty,” the prime minister added.

Shehbaz said that the country faced big challenges but the coalition government under the guidance of its leader Mian Nawaz Sharif was trying to overcome the difficulties and provide relief to the people.

However, he stressed that everyone must play its part to rid the country of the difficult situation. “We all have to play our part to deal with the challenges facing the country. Will get the country out of the troubles,” he added.

On the occasion, the prime minister gave away bags of flour to the beneficiaries and distributed cash assistance among the women. He sat on the ground with old and disabled people under scorching sun to listen to their grievances.
