Peshawar prison to get CCTV cameras soon

Caretaker KP CM urges administration to inform the government and the public about their activities inside the prison

PESHAWAR:

Adviser to the caretaker K-P Chief Minister on Prisons Hidayatullah Afridi has said that the installation of CCTV cameras at the Central Prison Peshawar is in progress, through which the supply of mobile phones and drugs to the prisoners will be monitored while contacts of prisoners with outside facilitators will also cease.

Expressing his anger over the recent clashes between the prison inmates during a meeting with the inspector general of prisons, the minister said that those prisoners who were involved in violence should be closely monitored so that such incidents did not take place in the future.

He urged the administration to inform the government and the public about their activities inside the prison.

The adviser was informed that the prison had a separate hostel for female prisoners and solarisation facility during load shedding while the number of rooms for the staff had been increased so that they could perform their duty with complete peace of mind.
