Neetu Kapoor irks many after taking a dig at Ranbir’s ex-girlfriends with a cryptic post

‘Just because he dated you for 7 years, it doesn’t mean he will marry you,’ read the quote she shared on Instagram

Veteran actor Neetu Kapoor, who was never a fan of her son Ranbir Kapoor’s past relationships, is facing backlash from social media users after sharing a cryptic post on Instagram. Users perceived the “salty message” as a dig at Ranbir’s relationship with actors Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif.

Whether a simple caution to people in relationships or an attempt to diss her son’s dating life, the post attracted a lot of attention online. While some users criticised Neetu for indirectly taunting her son's exes, others took her side and called it an “innocent” post devoid of any malicious intent.

“Neetu Kapoor has always had something against Katrina Kaif. Years after their breakup, she is still taunting her. They were together for 7 years,” wrote a user while calling the Yaaraana actor a “salty woman.” Another wrote, “She definitely wouldn’t have liked the same thing to happen to herself. Double standards.”

This one went a little personal and attacked her family values and her upbringing with Ranbir. “Maybe these are the values she raised her kids with,” with the hashtag ‘Shame on Neetu Kapoor.’

It is not the first time that Neetu Kapoor has faced criticism on social media. In the past, she has been accused of targeting Katrina Kaif and interfering in her son's personal life. Some fans, however, believed that her post could be interpreted in different ways and that people should not jump to conclusions. Although, it’s hard not to when Neetu has always had an opinion about his son’s personal life.

In 2021, Filmfare reported on how biased Neetu is as a mom about her son’s behaviours and how she admitted being ‘angry’ with one of his girlfriends. Speaking on his past relationships, she said, “He is too soft. He can’t hurt anybody. It’s the same with his relationships, he does not know how to say no, and gets into the deep end! I see it happening and can do nothing about it.”

This came after her son has gone on record to say that he cheated in a relationship multiple times. “Yes, I have cheated, out of immaturity, out of inexperience, out of taking advantage of certain temptations, out of callousness. You realise it now, when you grow up and you value it more why be in a relationship, why be committed to someone when you cannot be committed?” Ranbir had told Stardust magazine in 2011.
