The current situation in Pakistan is less than ideal. Clouds of distress have engulfed the general population. While none of this can be underplayed, it’s always nice to come across some form of positivity on the internet. A Twitter user took to the microblogging site to ask others, “As a Pakistani, name a single thing you are proud of?” Many answers poured in, and some of them are bound to leave lingering, wistful smiles.

“I’m very proud of her,” wrote a Twitter user, sharing several pictures of actor Mahira Khan.

“Been thinking about it for like half an hour because there is rarely anything to be proud of in this country. But after much thought, I think it's the food, the music and the Pakistani clothing (for me obviously)” wrote another user.

“Atif Aslam,” offered yet another, keeping things short and simple.

A user simply quote-tweeted images of former One Direction member Zayn Malik, and evergreen heartthrob, Fawad Khan.

“Humour, hospitality, the ability to self-criticise, and the diversity in the weather and landscapes,” shared one more on the site.

“Edhi sahab,” pointed out a user, highlighting a pertinent binding factor of Pakistan.

“Our nation’s sense of humour,” wrote one more. Indeed, Pakistan’s meme game remains unmatched.

A user attempted to highlight how our food is better than pretty much anything else.

“Them,” wrote another, sharing a picture of the celebrated Pakistan cricket team.

“Pakistan manufactures more than 50% of hand-sewed footballs,” began one user. “It has the largest private ambulance network. It is the first Islamic state to attain nuclear power. It consists of the second largest salt mines, and has the deepest sea port (Gwadar). You all always find a reason to bash - do your research,” they concluded.

“Our hospitality,” stated one more. “Never letting guests leave your house until they’ve eaten.”

There you have it. Times are hard, but remembering what constitutes the best of us is always vital. In the bleakest times, reminding people about what drives them to carry on can become essential.
